Nonito “The Filipino” Flash Donaire, Jr., whom many consider the next Manny Pacquiao, has knocked out every opponent hes faced since 2007, when he won the International Boxing Federation flyweight world championship. Now, after three successful title defenses, the 26-year-old native of Bohol, Philippines, has decided to vacate his belt and move up to the super flyweight division. His goal: to be a multi-divisional champion.
And his first bout in his new weight class promises to be a stellar one. Donaire, Jr. (21-1, 14 Kos), will square off against Rafael Concepcion (13-3-1, 8 Kos), of Panama City, Panama, who enters this fight having won 10 of his past 11 fights, including the WBA interim super flyweight title. Donaire, Jr., will battle Concepcion for the World Boxing Association interim championship Aug. 15 at The Joint in Las Vegas during Top Rank’s Pinoy Power 2 series.
